So I’ve seen a couple of theories trying to tie the “Space Baby” from “Tomorrow’s Enterprise” to The Prophets from DS9 or to the Progenitors. Let me start by saying that I’m perfectly fine with this episode being its own thing and not a tribute to something else in the #StarTrek universe.
Having said that, here’s my theory. I noticed that the “Midwives” who were delivering the Space Baby have a musical language. You know who else has a musical language? M’hanit, the mysterious comet from “Children of the Comet.” Or at least the temple on surface of M’hanit had a musical language. What if the superstitious space monks had a point? Maybe the Space Baby is meant to be an arbiter like the comet M’hanit which brings new life to the rest of the universe.
For the record, I’ve delivered more babies than anyone in this room. Right? And I shouldn’t be doing this?

In “The Corbomite Maneuver,” it is implied that Spock is not aware of poker. In “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” Spock is so catty about losing to Uhura on a bluff, it feels like he knows and hates the game intensely.

I’ve had the #Kelvinverse Enterprise-A for a while in Star Trek: Fleet Command. It’s a fun and beautiful ship. It kind of makes me wonder what another Kelvin timeline movie would look like.
“Once Laan a Time” can be regarded as an unofficial origin story for Hysperia, the Ren Faire planet from #LowerDecks. It’s easy to imagine that Pelia, having piloted the Elysian world ship to its new home and studied its engineering, would share its technology with her space hippie friends who would then go on to found Hysperia. Or maybe the Elysian world ship itself was colonized and renamed by settlers who wanted to enjoy Medieval Times 24/7. Either way it’s a nice little thread that can connect these two fun corners of the #StarTrek Universe.

It’s pretty common for detractors of franchises like #StarTrek to dismiss newer stories as “fan fiction” but “Once La’an a Time” does work on a meta level as an in-universe piece of fan-fiction. Rukiya doesn’t appear in this episode but the world we see here has clearly been changed from the world presented in “The Elysian Kingdom.” I was initially disappointed that Rukiya and Debra didn’t appear in this episode but it is interesting to how this new version of the Elysian Kingdom bears their fingerprints in the form of new characters and changes to existing characters.
I don’t have a comment, I just love this sequence and Roth/Pike’s Gollum-like reaction.

So the next episode of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds involves the Gorn, right? It’s the only one left and they wouldn’t be prominently in the credits if they don’t appear this season.
A note for 23rd century historians: a van is like a ground based shuttlecraft but with more primitive environmental controls which made it much more vulnerable to “hotboxing.”
