Not a big soap opera fan so this week’s episode of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds left me a bit cold. I laughed more because of the ridiculous melodrama. But I still appreciate the playfulness of #SNW. It’s probably the closest thing to a 60th anniversary celebration that Paramount is going to give us.

Probably the best review I’ve seen regarding John Stewart’s origin episode of Lanterns.

Maybe I just have a thing for cute Vulcans but I really enjoyed Cadet A’asha in Off Hours. Her lines are reminiscent of classic Vulcan sass from Spock in #TOS and Tuvok in Voyager. And her seemingly annoying banter with Scotty inspired a lot of his good ideas.

#StarTrek fans will likely recognize “Disaster” from #TNG and the TV show 24 as influences for “Off Hours.” But one of the more surprising influences for this episode was “Subway” from Homicide: Life on the Street.
