The Jem’Hadar / Klingon hybrid drill sargeant in #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy is pretty cool. Would she be called a Kling’Hadar or would it be considered offensive? And how exactly do you get Jem’Hadar / Klingon hybrids anyway? Afterall in DS9 the Jem’Hadar were an all male race of clones. Possible theories:
- Odo made some changes when returned to the Great Link.
- The Jem’Hadar who didn’t need Ketracel White that Dr. Bashir discovered wasn’t the only one. These Jem’Hadar escaped the Dominion. 2a. These Jem’Hadar can only reproduce by hybridizing with other alien races.
It’s interesting to note that the first Jem’Hadar we ever meet is disappointed by his first encounter with Alpha Quadrant species because he really wanted to meet a Klingon. We haven’t really seen many Klingons in 32nd century Star Trek and out of the three we see here, two are hydrids. And the third is very different from Klingons we usually see in Star Trek. Lura Thok is an exciting addition Star Trek lore and I hope that Starfleet Academy explores her backstory and ancestry.
