For Spock, “The Griffin Incident” is something of a sequel to “Four and a Half Vulcans.” The former is horror and the latter is comedy but they both represent Spock’s struggle to reckon with his Vulcan and human heritage. In one, his own internalized racism and self hatred are made manifest, driving him away from his Vulcan side. In the other, his Vulcan discipline and logic are able to save him from being consumed by his human fear and emotion.
